A via ferrata is a safe, specially-designed course on a rock face. It’s halfway between rock climbing, accrobranche and hiking.
Most of the time accessible from a minimum height, it’s a fun, family activity, with varying degrees of sportiness depending on the level of difficulty.
Just 15 minutes from the Écho du Malpas campsite is the “via ferrata Dordogne” course, overlooking the Dordogne valley. Located downstream of the Chastang dam, this is a great introduction to the discipline. Ladders and monkey bridges allow you to climb safely and observe the landscape.
